*This is a recipe that I have adapted from Tina’s over at FitFunTina.com.*

Ingredients

  • 1 whole grain pita
  • Lettuce, spinach, kale, etc. (your choice)
  • Tomatoes


Meat:

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 2 tsp fresh oregano
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1/8 c water
Tzatziki Sauce (Yogurt Sauce):
 
  • 3/4 c plain greek yogurt
  • 1/2 peeled and seeded cucumber
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tb red wine vinegar
  • 1 tb fresh dillweed
Instructions
 
Meat:
  1. Cut up oregano leaves (not the stem) into small pieces.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together ground turkey, oregano, pepper, and salt.
  3. In a skillet cook garlic, onion, and water on medium high. Cook for a few minutes until onions start to brown. Add in turkey mixture and cooked until browned. Set aside.
Tzatziki Sauce (Yogurt Sauce):
 
  1. Peel cucumber. Slice in half. Scoop out seeds with a spoon. Mince cucumber (I used a food processor but this can be done with a knife).
  2. Cut up dill weed leaves (not the stem) into small pieces.
  3. In small bowl, mix together the cucumber, yogurt, garlic, red wine vinegar, and dill weed.
Serve by placing your choice of veggies, meat, and Tzatziki sauce on top of your pita (heat pita in microwave for 15 seconds). Fold and enjoy!
